Real Life in: Canterbury
Last weekend my friend and I took a quick “road trip” to Canterbury. I use quotation marks because a drive of less than two hours can hardly be called a road trip lol.
We bundled ourselves in the car on Friday evening and headed to Tudor Park, a Marriott hotel and country club in Maidstone. We were determined to get some R&R and a head-start for the Saturday morning drive to Canterbury. Our arrival time was just after 9pm, so we checked in and headed straight to dinner at The Drawing Room. (In case you missed it check out the Canterbury post here.) Dinner was fabulous and more than enough to cause a healthy food coma so we slept very well!
The next morning we were able to see a bit more of the hotel and let me just say, it was gorgeous. We got a full English breakfast in the dining room overlooking part of the golf course. At £15 per person, I think it was quite pricey for bog standard food but I guess we were paying for the location too.
After breakfast it was straight to the pool for a quick dip before hitting the road. They had a steam room, sauna and the works so I was very happy!
The hotel staff were super-friendly and were more than happy to let us check out late so we hit the road around 1pm.
I was a bad passenger and slept basically the whole drive to Canterbury but I’m guessing it went quickly and smoothly 😁😁. When we arrived the sun was out in full force and the town was exactly what I expected it to be…just good vibes!
We strolled around for a while taking pictures but sadly weren’t able to go punting. Although I was really looking forward to it, I guess it’s an adventure for another day.
Till next time,
